In another study published by the American Journal of Clinical Nutrition, a group of men with high cholesterol started a fish and garlic supplement regimen. In this study, there were control groups taking garlic oil alone and fish oil alone.
The men taking fish and garlic oil together experienced the most dramatic results. Their HDL cholesterol ("good cholesterol") improved over the 12-week study period. The other groups taking fish oil or garlic oil alone saw some improvements too but the placebo group had no changes to cholesterol levels.
